There are many ways that you can assist with the record attempt and fundraising. Firstly, you can make a donation to the Royal Flying Doctor Service by visiting www.flyingdoctor.org.au.
An attempt like this does not happen without an enormous amount of preparation and planning. This is being done voluntarily by Chris, his partner Michelle, members of the support crew, friends and family.
While this work is being done voluntarily, there is/will still be considerable costs involved in making the attempt ($15,000 -$20,000). Some of these include:
- Rental of motorhomes and scooter including fuel
- Signage and safety equipment
- Accommodation in Sydney and flights for Chris and his support Crew back to Perth
- Nutritional advice/food (Chris’s energy requirements during the attempt will be equivalent to 8 weeks worth of food)
- Communications equipment (two-ways, satellite phones, bicycle GPS as required by Guinness World Records, etc.)
- Insurances
- Website
- Clothing (jerseys, appropriate endurance cycling clothes, specialist clothes that assist in recovery, safety)
- Cycling equipment, accessories, spares parts and bikes
- Transport of equipment back
- Etc.
Chris has made the commitment that 100% of funds raised will go to the RFDS, and as such, is seeking the support of sponsors to assist with the costs of the attempt. If sponsorship contributions exceed the costs associated with the attempt, then additional monies will also be donated to the RFDS.
Finally, you can help by spreading the word about the attempt and the RFDS, and getting behind Chris.

You are mad but I think you are great.
Shall support you with a cheque and shall be behind the scene cheer squad, don’t think I can help along the way, but who knows, keep it up, keep safe and all the best. Marg
